What a wonderful time to celebrate the new life that’s about to come into our world. I decided to prepare all the food for my shower & it was a success!
The weather couldn’t have been more perfect! We were able to enjoy a lot of sun while visiting on the patio.
I have my amazing sister-in-law & mother-in-law to thank for helping me put this little party together. We decided to go for a “turtle” theme as that’s how we’ve adorned the nursery with cute turtle decor.
I came up with a “dainty” ladies brunch menu to serve on this special day.
- Finger Sandwiches: Two ways, Pimento & Cucumber Dill
- Turkey Sausage & Cheddar Bites with Pepper Jelly for accompaniment
- Frittata Poppers, Oven dried Tomatoes, Goat Cheese & Spinach with Salsa for Kids
- Lox “deviled” Eggs
- Avocado Hummus with Crudités
- Watermelon Salad
- Classic Spinach Dip with Pita Points
- Dessert: “Turtle” Cupcakes provided by my mother-in-law, Sandi
- Drink: Homemade Sangria made by my sister-in-law, Sheryl
- Drink: Sparkling Sweet Cherry Lemonade inspired by my friend, Heather – recipe by Paula Deen
“Cheers!” This is the Sparkling Sweet Cherry Lemonade that a friend of mine, Heather posted on her Facebook page just a few days prior. I was torn between Classic Lemonade or Peach Tea, until my eyes landed on this & it was a “no-brainer.” As you can see here, mine is heavy on the “cherries” which I allowed my ice to melt & dilute it a bit. I’ve learned that cherries actually make one “sleepy.” I really felt the effect of that due to the amount of melatonin they carry. This is a great “mocktail” – everyone enjoyed it, so incredibly refreshing on a warm sunny day!

I love these smiles!
There’s nothing like opening my home to the people I love to help me celebrate something so significant. This is a day I’ll remember for the rest of my lifetime. I’m incredibly blessed to have such amazing & inspiring ladies in my life!
One of my most favorite things about this day was that everyone wrote down a special message as a piece of advice to take with me on this journey moving forward. I was to choose my favorite two. To be honest, they were all my favorite. I will cherish everything written to me & remember this day as we came together to celebrate the upcoming life of Reid Walker Durham.
Another highlight of the afternoon was that, “Adam got the balloons!” He & his dad, along with the wonder pup, went for an afternoon outing while the ladies got together. We had plenty left over & were able to feed our guys as well as take it with us to our adventure to Cocoa Beach, FL the next day to visit my Godmother. Such an exiting time!
My baby shower could not have turned out more beautifully. I know I continue to say how grateful I am, it’s just the Gods honest truth. I’ve come such a long way over the past few years, that I thought I’d never have a chance like this to celebrate with those that mean so much to me. I have a new outlook on life as well as an overwhelming appreciation for each day thats given to me, which is a priceless gift. Now I’m blessed with a new life to raise with an amazing man that is already an incredible father. I’m on cloud nine, elated with happiness. Having a child is truly a gift of love that I never knew existed. I’m the happiest I’ve ever been.
