Now for the full on deets of this whole pregnancy thing…
I have to give a huge pat on my back due to the exceptional health I was in when I conceived. To be honest I was in the best shape of my entire life. Notice I use the word ‘was’ because, let’s be honest, I’m pregnant & pregnant ladies get their eat on, even if it’s not all that healthy. I know, I know, your probably thinking, but she’s so into her health. Yes, I surely am but that’s not to say I’m using this beautiful experience to indulge in the good things in life. That’s eating… what I want, when I want. Let’s just say I’ve justified my situation to really enjoy it in every way I can.
The first few weeks were filled with great excitement along with incredible hunger. I listened & gave into my eating habits. I started to eat more than I normally do, as instructed 300 more calories than my average intake, 1600. I started at 127 lbs. & have gained 10 lbs. Now as advised by my doctor, I’m to gain a minimum of 30lbs. So the way I see it, I’m on track. I’m on the cusp into my second trimester with 10 on & 20 more to go.
I’ve been creating some fantastic recipes I found in this great cookbook by, Leanne Brown. She has created this impressive cookbook called, “Eat Well on $4 a day – Good and Cheap.” Head over to her site to download a free copy. I’ve made just a few recipes so far but my hubs recently returned from Canada & said the natives speak highly about this Poutine. Can you believe I’ve never heard of this? So I felt compelled to try it out. Oh my, sort of heavenly.
Back to being pregnant…
My hormones – totally off the charts. I have hypothyroidism which I’ve desperately been trying to subside the symptoms & get off hormone replacement therapy all together before getting pregnant, but not a good idea while creating another human. SO back on Synthroid I am. My dose’s have increased every 6 weeks. I’m up to 132 mcg. a day.
No morning sickness at all as well as any other uncomfortable feelings. Overall I’m really enjoying this journey so far. One thing is that I’ve only been walking daily & I need to create a low impact exercise routine which I plan to put in play this week. Stay tuned for details.
As I head into the middle term of pregnancy, I look forward to it being the most enjoyable. The hormone levels calm down & I start to “look” pregnant. As for now, I’m just “outgrowing” my pants & baby tee’s. I finally broke down & purchased my first round of maternity wear last night. Two pair of pants, jeans & loungers as well as five tops. Two sweaters, one dressy top for the company Christmas Party at Chateau Elan & two additional tops. Hope that these hold me over a while. Just something about buying things I won’t get much use out of, makes me a little bonkers. I guess I have a twinge of OCD.
As for the peanut, what in the world to buy & where to even start is the big question. We are in the process of finding a new home which we will move into in 6 weeks. Until then, I’ll hold off on big purchases. I’d like to be as conservative as possible. I’m looking at Sam’s Club as well as some consignment shops. I’ve even started a registry at Babies R’ Us, but I feel that’s where I got a little overwhelmed with everything there is to think about. Every time I stroll over to that website, I start to breathe a little faster & decide to come back another time. This is a slow process & my patience is deff. getting a good lesson through all of this, from everything to finding the right house to what to buy as in the “right” things.
I’m excited about this as it will be one of the most, if not the biggest experiences of my life. I want to make sure I get it right.
