In my twenties, I was in really great shape. My metabolism was on point & I never had to worry about my weight. I was full of energy & was very active. I got into running in my late twenties & ran my first half marathon in 2006. After that, I fell in a rut with working so much & going through a divorce. I began culinary school & continued to work so needless to say, I put on a bit of weight. I drank quite a bit in those days too. I became a beer connoisseur. Before I knew it I was extremely out of shape & overweight. That was in 2008. In 2012 I started feeling really sluggish. I decided to quit drinking with the help of my husband & get it together. That was when I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism & Hashimoto’s.
I wasn’t keen on running again. So I decided to push play on an at-home fitness program, P90X. That’s when everything changed. I had a gym membership once before but was never consistent with it. I was self-conscience of myself & felt really uncomfortable. So P90X was it for me. I found it online & bought it. I learned about P90X from a co-worker who got really great results from it.
P90X is a 90-day program & I was never consistent with it. There was a nutrition guide that went with it & there were days that I’d follow it then break the momentum by being lazy.
In 2014 I found out about another at-home program that had 25-minute workouts instead of 1:00 long like P90X. I decided to go for it. I got really great results. I felt great in fact, I lost 20 lbs. After the course of that, I did another program with 30-minute workouts that lasted 21 days. This time I was part of a virtual support group. I also bought a superfood meal replacement shake to go along with it.
This was a game changer for me. I lost more weight & gained friendships from the group. I’d wake-up early, push play then I’d drink my shake for breakfast. I followed the nutrition plan & logged everything within the group. Trust me, there were days I totally didn’t feel like doing it – at all. I knew I couldn’t let the others down as we all leaned on each other for support. By following through & gaining the accountability, I felt the need to pay it forward & start running my own groups. Not only am I helping others by doing this, I’m keeping myself accountable too.

When I first signed up for the piyo challenge, Shakeology came with my challenge pack. I immediately canceled home direct, because I thought I wouldn’t want it, it was just another thing they were trying to sell me etc. etc. What a big mistake. I LOVE SHAKEOLOGY!!
