Well, here we are! I was told today that I’m over half way there! I can’t believe this is happening so fast yet not fast enough all in the same time!
The best part of the second trimester, we find out the gender:
We welcome Reid Walker Durham, May 25, 2015.
We are amidst a move this week along with Daniel traveling for business which makes things interesting for us. I have a great support system within my family that I couldn’t be happier to be a part of. I’m truly grateful to bring this incredible life into this world of wonderful people.
So – the perks of being pregnant:
- I’m eating without any guilt:
I’ve been honing in on my menu choices – as for the first tri. I was craving sugar galore. I had to put a stop to that real quick. Now don’t get me wrong, I certainly crave it like no tomorrow, I’ve just had to make healthier sweeter options, if there is such a thing. Example: instead of TWO Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, I’ll opt for a smaller piece of dark chocolate. The trick here is – my friends is that I reward myself with it instead of just barreling through it. You see, before I kept the excuse running through my head that this is my only chance to get away with eating whatever I want, whenever I want… well I did & well, I felt it big time after a while. Now I’m really tuned into the well being of this life growing inside me to make better choices for him. It’s quite a beautiful thing. I’m really enjoying it so far.
- Drinking lot’s of WATER:
I’ve done extensive research on water, back in the beginning when I was diagnosed with hashimoto’s. While doing my best to cure the cause of my symptoms, I found that fluoride in our water is a big endocrine disruptor & I wanted to find ways to eliminate it at least from my drinking water. I found this: Propur Water Filter Pitcher with 1 ProOne-G 2.0 mini filter element. I drink a whole pitcher a day. I use it in my oats, smoothies, tea’s & fill my reusable Klean Kanteen Wide Mouth Bottle with Stainless Loop Cap (Brushed Stainless, 40-Ounce) three times a day. I find that when I don’t drink enough water, I feel sluggish, sleepy, itchy, & just plain blah. I start to get a very mild headache & I quickly chug a lug which almost snaps me right out of it in an instant. Water – what a great invention.
- Getting plenty of blood-flow:
I’ve signed up for yoga & once we settle into the new nest, I plan to start swimming one day a week. I’ve been walking at least a mile & a half with the wonder pup everyday & that’s non-negotiable. Getting my body moving just helps me feel better overall, pregnant or not. The only difference is that it’s twice as important now than before.
- Increased Sex Drive:
This totally caught me off guard & well, I’m considering myself lucky for this one. I’m not the only lucky one for it either. Let’s just say we are enjoying the natural sources of happiness to the greatest extent. I’m hoping this never goes away. So important to have a healthy sex life, I wish we weren’t amongst a society that voids it out as a dirty deed. Let the love flow for goodness sake, we need more of it in this world!
The not so good perks of pregnancy:
I’m officially unable to wear any of my jeans. I’ve even gone to the extent to use hairbands around the button hole to wrap around the button. Well, sad to say those days are over. So I’ve purchased a pair of maternity jeans & they come with this stretch band belly cover & I’m not a big fan. They fall down & I’m constantly pulling them up. I believe they may stay once my belly is a little bigger. I’m so grateful for my sister-in-law, she recently had a beautiful baby girl last April & has been so kind to pass along her pants & tops. These are the most comfortable things I’ve put on my body in a long time. I don’t know if it’s because they’re worn in or what, but they feel good. The bottom line is this: I can’t stand the thought of spending money on something that I will only wear briefly. Speaking of briefly, yep – I had to. I got new undies & a couple of bra’s. The disadvantage of growing boobs is that the boob holders get uncomfortable, no matter if the size is right, I’ve started experiencing discomfort with the band around them. So I turned to L’Occitane Almond Supple Skin Oil, 3.4 fl. oz.. This not only smells incredible but the oil rubbed on my belly & other parts will help prevent stretch marks. My epidermis thanks me for this.
Has not been a big concern only until I changed prenatal vitamins. I started on & I ran through a bottle & got Nature Made which started “stopping me up.” So I just ordered a year’s supply of Rainbow Light Prenatal One Multivitamin, 150-Count Bottle & things are moving normally again.
That about sums up my second trimester so far… I plan to write a second post on my second trimester in a few more weeks… Stay tuned for more.
