Spring is upon us here in the sunny south & that means strawberry season is gearing up for full swing! I just had to take advantage of this opportunity!
I have a variety of protein powders in my pantry. They’ve been there a while due to my recent discovery of a certain type of super foods all in one shake. I hate to put things to waste, so I came up with the idea to produce different ways to enjoy them, mostly through smoothies. This week features hemp powder with flax. Flax seeds don’t do us any good unless we grind them in order to expel their nutritious qualities. There’s quite a story behind these little guys.
Now on to Hemp Powder Protein Powder… This is something I discovered while looking for a protein powder without gluten or soy due to my hypothyroidism. It’s packed with protein & its great for the kidneys as well as super digestible. It even has a very mild sweetness to it.
Back to smoothie goodness! This Sunday’s Smoothie contains other supporting ingredients to heighten the main feature: Strawberries, Banana, Frozen Peaches, Greek Yogurt along with the hemp & flax. I added all of this into my trusty Magic Bullet NutriBullet 12-Piece High-Speed Blender/Mixer System & brought it all together with hydrating coconut water. Mmmm, good!
- 4 to 5 plump & juicy fresh strawberries
- 1 banana
- 4 to 5 slices of frozen peach
- 3 tablespoons greek yogurt
- 2 tablespoons hemp protein powder
- 1 tablespoon flaxseeds
- 2 cups coconut water
- Add all ingredients into a blender & blend well.
